Situation:
The Americas division of a major global corporation wanted
to better align its existing diversity and inclusion strategy
with the corporation’s core business strategy, key
business goals, global HR priorities, and global diversity
and inclusion priorities. This included design and selection
of metrics with clear accountability for progress and design
of a communication plan.
The division diversity team also wanted to further
develop its expertise in aligning diversity and inclusion
with key business goals.
Solution:
An intensive off-site workshop was designed specifically
to this team’s learning and planning requirements.
The session combined learning and action planning in the
areas of Business-Aligned® diversity and inclusion initiatives,
metrics, accountability, workplace assessments, and communication.
Each module provided learning via an interactive presentation
and immediate application of the learning to produce the
needed planning deliverable.
The planning work used existing
business and diversity strategy and work plan documents as
a starting point for creating clear Business-Aligned® D&I
deliverables.
Outcome:
The team learned about more effectively aligning diversity
and inclusion strategies with key business goals. A planning
document was produced that crisply presented an aligned view
of key business goals, intended changes, initiatives, and
metrics. This one document consolidated the content of many
other documents. It became the basis for engagement and commitment
conversations with the global team and with the senior leadership
team. Team members found operations senior executives enthusiastic
about this new approach since they saw the direct link to
their key business objectives. |
