                                                   Reinvigorated, and Add-Ons

Situation:
A global manufacturer of products for children needed a more formal approach to diversity and inclusion. The company was doing a lot of good work within its business units and had a Foundation that did outstanding work in various communities around the world. Nonetheless, the company realized that it would benefit from bringing all this work under a comprehensive global diversity strategic platform. There also was a need to more tightly align all the work with business priorities and strategies.

Solution:
The CEO and senior executive team were interviewed regarding the company's business strategies and the workforce and work environment needed for the company to continue meeting its business objectives over the coming years. A comprehensive analysis was done of the current situation in terms of workforce and work environment. The priorities, themes, and trends identified were the basis for developing a Business-Aligned® diversity and inclusion strategy and accompanying metrics and scorecard for the company. The strategy was made consistent with the company's existing corporate values. Communication of the strategy positioned it as helping achieve the company's business objectives in a way consistent with the company's values.

Outcome:
The CEO and senior leadership team approved the strategy and has started implementation.

Key trends were identified that guided design of a Business-Aligned® diversity and inclusion strategy. The initiatives and metrics were tailored to measure progress towards achieving the needed changes.

Outcome:
The Board of Directors and senior leadership team approved the strategy. A firm-wide diversity board and council have been established to lead implementation and ensure sustained alignment with business needs.

Situation:
A Fortune 500 company’s diversity strategy was four years old, and much progress had been made. Facing new marketing plans and business challenges, the existing diversity strategy was at risk of becoming disconnected from business needs.

Solution:
Consistent with the company’s preferences, a small team was convened consisting of HR, Employee Communications, and employees. The team developed a new strategy as an evolutionary step forward from the former initiative.

Outcome:
The strategy was deployed company wide as the guiding framework for all subsequent diversity work.
